- 1 lb. phyllo pastry sheets
- 1 1/2 c. butter, melted
- 1 lb. nuts, finely chopped
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. honey
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
Directions

1Place sheets of phyllo pastry in 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan, brushing each second sheet with melted butter.

2When 10 sheets are in place, combine nuts and sugar; spread 1/2 over top sheet.

3Place another 5 sheets of buttered phyllo on top and sprinkle with nut mixture. Repeat and end with buttered phyllo sheets.

4With sharp knife, cut baklava into diamond shaped pieces.

5Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Reduce temperature to 300° and bake 45 minutes more.

6Cool and pour hot syrup over top.

7Serves 24.
