- 2/3 c. shortening
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 2/3 c. sugar
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. bananas, mashed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 c. buttermilk
- 2/3 c. nuts
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients.

2Stir in shortening until softened.

3Add bananas and half of buttermilk; mix until flour is damp.

4Beat vigorously for 2 minutes.

5Add rest of buttermilk and eggs.

6Beat 2 more minutes.

7Add nuts and stir.

8Bake in greased or paper-lined pans at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes, until done.

9Cool 10 minutes.

10It may be topped with whipped cream and sliced bananas.
