Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. bananas, mashed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 c. buttermilk
  • 2/3 c. nuts

Directions

    Sift dry ingredients.

    Stir in shortening until softened.

    Add bananas and half of buttermilk; mix until flour is damp.

    Beat vigorously for 2 minutes.

    Add rest of buttermilk and eggs.

    Beat 2 more minutes.

    Add nuts and stir.

    Bake in greased or paper-lined pans at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes, until done.
