Ingredients

  • 12 cup butter
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups semolina
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 34 cup yogurt (plain)
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • syrup
  • 1 12 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

Directions

    cream the butter, sugar, vanilla.

    add the eggs, beat again.

    fold in semolina/yogurt/semolina/yogurt with spatula.

    pour into 8 x 8 pan, bake 350 for 30 minutes.

    while baking, boil the Syrup ingredients in a small sauce pan for 4-5 minutes, set aside to cool.

    allow the cake to cool for at least an hour after baking, spoon the syrup over the top of it.

    traditionally it is cut into diamond shaped pieces and removed from the pan.

    at home, it disappears so fast that i dont bother.
