- 2 c. whole milk
- 1/2 medium whole onion
- 3 large garlic
- 10 whole peppercorns
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. flour
Directions

1In a small saucepan, combine milk, onion, garlic and peppercorns and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally; remove from heat.

2Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.

3Stir in flour.

4Increase heat to medium and cook, stirring, until the mixture is light golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes.

5Strain the milk, discarding the solids, and gradually whisk it into the flour mixture (about 3/4 cup at a time) until smooth.

6Simmer, stirring often, until thickened, 6 to 8 minutes.

7Remove from heat and season with 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper.
