  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 tsp. good quality vanilla extract
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 bag confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 c. heavy cream

Directions

    Combine the butter, shortening, vanilla, and salt in a standing mixer using the paddle attachment (or in a large bowl with a hand mixer).

    Add the confectioners sugar 1 cup at a time, alternating with the milk or heavy cream, and blend until you have used it all.

    If the frosting is too thick, add more milk.

    If it is too thin, add more confectioners sugar.
