  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups water

    1. Grease pans with Pam for baking. Stir together flour, cocoa, powder, soda and salt.

    2. Beat butter on high for 30 seconds. Add sugar, beating til light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Beat in chocolate and vanilla. Add dry mixture and water alternately to mixture, beating on low til just combined. Pour into prepared pan(s).

    3. Bake in 350F oven for 30-35 minutes depending on pan size. Keep close watch on it and remove when toothpick comes out with a few crumbs clinging to it. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely.
