Basic Yeast Rolls

Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. very warm water
- 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1Dissolve dry yeast in very warm water; add milk which has been cooled to lukewarm, sugar and salt.

2Allow to stand for 5 minutes; add butter or margarine and egg and mix well.

3Stir in flour and beat with spoon until dough forms a ball.

4Brush top of dough with melted margarine and cover with a towel.

5Set bowl in warm water until dough is light and spongy, about 20 to 25 minutes.

6Turn out onto floured cloth or board; knead a minute or so.

7Shape into rolls.

8Let rise and bake at 400°

9for 10 to 12 minutes.

10Yields 16 average rolls.
