Basic Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour

Directions

    Scald milk, sugar, margarine and salt.

    Add egg and yeast.

    Mix in flour until dough is stiff and can be turned out on floured board to knead.

    Knead well.

    Place in greased bowl and let rise until doubled.

    Let rise again.

    Place rolls in greased pan.

    Let rise about 1 hour or until doubled.

    Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.
