Ingredients

  • 1 c. corn meal
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 heaping tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. milk (approximately)
  • 1 or 2 eggs
  • 1 c. boiling water (approximately)
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 Tbsp. melted lard

Directions

    Mix meal, salt and baking powder.

    Add egg, beaten lightly, sweet milk and enough boiling water to make a very thin batter. Add butter and lard.

    Put in well-greased baking dish; cook for 30 to 40 minutes in moderate oven (375°).
