- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 3/4 c. warm water
- 6 1/2 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2In large bowl add 1/2 flour (3 1/4 cups), sugar and shortening.

3Blend on low speed; 2 minutes on high speed.

4Mix remaining flour by hand.

5Cover and let rise until double (45 minutes).

6Stir batter, beating hard 1/2 minute.

7Spread into 2 greased loaf pans.

8(Batter will be sticky.)

9Let rise 20 minutes or until double.

10Bake at 400° for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

11Rub butter on hot loaves.
