- 1 1/2 c. water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 4 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. soft shortening
- 1 egg
Directions

1Pour water in a large bowl.

2Add yeast; let stand a few minutes.

3Stir until dissolved.

4Add half the flour, sugar, salt and shortening.

5Add egg; beat 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.

6Add remaining flour; beat another 2 minutes.

7Cover with oiled plastic wrap. Let rise in warm place until double, about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Grease 2 dozen small muffin tin holes.

8Stir batter 20 to 25 strokes.

9Spoon half full.
-
10Let rise until batter reaches top of tins.

11Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 425°.

12Brush with butter when they come out of oven.
