- 1 1/2 lb. cabbage, shredded
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 medium tart apples, diced
- 1/2 c. dry white wine
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. caraway seed
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. red wine vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1In a large kettle, fry bacon until crisp; add onion and saute until golden.

2Stir in sugar and cook until lightly brown.

3Add cabbage and apples.

4Mix well.

5Cover and cook approximately 30 minutes.

6Add caraway seed, wine and water.

7Cover and cook another 20 minutes.

8Season with salt and vinegar.

9Serves 8 people.
