- 4 c. dry pinto beans
- 2 whole cloves garlic
- 4 Tbsp. salt or to taste
- 1 lb. diced bacon
- 1 lb. diced ham
- 1/2 c. diced tomatoes
- 2 c. diced chiles (use long green chiles)
Directions

1Put beans in a pot and cover with water and bring to a full boil and then put on simmer.

2Add garlic and salt.

3Cover and cook about 4 hours.

4Make sure water level of beans stays just above beans.

5In another pan, brown 1 pound of diced bacon; drain fat, leaving about 3 tablespoons drippings in the pan.

6Add ham, onions, tomatoes and chiles; saute.

7When beans are soft, add sauteed ingredients and bacon to bean pot and simmer about 20 minutes. Ready to serve.

8Tastes good poured over rice and makes a meal.
