- 3/4 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1/3 c. butter
- 1/2 c. milk
- shortening
Directions

1Sift sugar and salt with flour.

2Blend in shortening and add just enough milk to make a very stiff dough.

3Knead on floured board until dough becomes soft and pliable.

4Run through a meat grinder or beat steadily with a wooden mallet for 30 minutes or until dough blisters, keeping edges turned in.

5Roll to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with biscuit cutter.

6Prick with fork and bake in moderate (350°) oven for 30 minutes.

7Should be a delicate ivory color.
