- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 1/2 lb. lean stew beef, cut in 1-inch cubes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 c. red wine (boil 5 minutes before using)
- 1 can beef bouillon
- 2 tsp. tomato paste
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tsp. basil
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 lb. sliced mushrooms
Directions

1Brown beef and onion in oil. Sprinkle with flour and brown. Add remaining ingredients, except mushrooms. Cover and simmer slowly for 2 1/2 hours. Add mushrooms in last 15 minutes. Serve over plain or wild rice.
