- 1/2 lb. bacon, cut into pieces
- 2 large onions
- 3 large carrots
- 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 24 small white onions (I use frozen onions)
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sauteed in butter or 1 large can mushrooms
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3 c. Burgundy wine
- 2 cans beef bouillon
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1 bay leaf

2Peel and cook potatoes until soft; drain off water and mash.

3Add 1 (8 ounce) can sauerkraut or add 1/2 pound cheese to mashed potatoes with 1 teaspoon pepper.
