- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3 1/2 c. cubed round steak
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans Swanson beef broth
- 1 c. Burgundy wine
- 1/2 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 12 small canned onions
Directions

1Melt shortening and brown meat.

2Stir in flour, salt, thyme and pepper, scraping well.

3Place all in 2-quart casserole dish.

4Pour in 1 can of broth.

5Bake 2 hours in 325° oven.

6Add mushrooms, onions, 1 can broth and 1/2 cup of wine.

7Bake 1 1/2 hours more until tender.

8Serves 8.
