Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. stew beef (1-inch cubes)
- 8 oz. diced bacon
- 2 large sliced onions
- 1 or 2 chopped leeks (including some of the green part)
- 1 pt. beer
- flour, salt, pepper and mixed salad herbs
- 1 lb. chopped carrots
- chopped parsley (optional)
Directions

1Fry bacon pieces in large pan.

2Leave bacon in pan.

3Add beef and brown in bacon drippings.

4Add onion and leeks and lightly brown.

5Stir in a little flour.

6Add beer, stirring constantly. If necessary, add water to cover meat.

7Season with salt, pepper and mixed salad herbs.

8Add carrots and bring to a boil.

9Simmer gently for 2 1/2 hours or until beef is tender.

10(Can be cooked in a moderate oven, 350°, in covered dish for 2 1/2 hours.)

11Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.

12Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional).
