Beef Loaf With Wine

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 tsp. fresh tarragon or basil
  • 1/4 c. melted butter
  • red wine

Directions

    Mix first 8 ingredients together with 1/4 cup wine.

    Pack into a loaf pan lined with waxed paper and chill.

    Turn out on a cookie sheet and score top with the back of a knife.

    Mix together melted butter and 1/2 cup wine.

    Bake loaf in preheated 350° oven for 1 hour, basting occasionally with butter-wine mixture.

    Good with mushroom sauce or sour cream.
