- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. chopped onions
- 1/3 c. ketchup
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. shredded American cheese
- 3 c. hot mashed potatoes
Directions

1Combine beef, bread crumbs, eggs, onion, ketchup, salt and pepper.

2Pat meat into an 8-inch square baking dish.

3Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

4Remove from oven; drain excess fat.

5Combine mashed potatoes and 3/4 cup shredded American cheese; spread cheese over meat.

6Bake for another 30 minutes.

7Top with 1/4 cup shredded cheese.

8Bake for another 20 minutes.
