Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. chuck
- 2 medium onions, cut into chunks or 12 to 18 pearl onions
- 3 medium potatoes
- 4 carrots
- 1 (14 oz.) can beef broth
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 whole cloves
- salt and pepper
- 1 c. dry red wine or water
- 1 bay leaf (break into 3)
- handful finely chopped parsley
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
Directions

1Preheat oven to 300°.

2Cut beef into 1-inch chunks.

3In large casserole, arrange beef, potatoes, onions, carrots and garlic. Pour beef broth and wine over it.

4Add tomato paste and stir lightly.

5Bury bay leaf and cloves.

6Salt and pepper lightly.
