Ingredients
- 2 lb. lean beef
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 2 c. water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 6 onions
- 6 carrots
- 6 potatoes
- 1 small can tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Cut meat into small pieces.

2Roll pieces in flour and brown in the fat in a heavy pan.

3Remove meat.

4Add water and scrape up brown bits.

5Add salt, pepper, bay leaf, sugar and tomato sauce. Add browned meat.

6Cover tightly and cook on low for about 1 1/2 hours.

7Add cut-up vegetables; cook about 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

8Serves 6.
