- 2 lb. cubed lean beef stew meat
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 to 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 4 to 6 potatoes, peeled and diced
- celery, diced (optional)
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1/2 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- dash of ground allspice
- 3 to 4 carrots, peeled and diced
Directions

1Coat stew meat lightly with flour and brown in small amount of oil, stirring often to brown all sides.

2Mix remaining ingredients in 2 cups hot water.

3Pour over meat.

4Cover and cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until meat is tender.

5Remove bay leaves.

6Add diced potatoes and carrots.

7Add more water if needed.

8Cover and cook over medium heat until vegetables are done.
