Ingredients

  • 2 lb. thinly sliced peeled pears *
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. water
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced, or can use real lemon juice
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 (21 oz.) can pork and beans
  • 2 c. cooked rice
  • 1/3 c. catsup
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar

Directions

    Crumble beef into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish; add onion. Microwave on High, uncovered, for 5 to 6 minutes or until meat is no longer pink; drain.

    Add beans, rice, catsup, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, mustard and pepper.

    Mix well.

    Cut apple into 10 thin slices.

    Arrange in clockwise pattern on top of the casserole.

    Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon brown sugar.

    Cover with lid.

    Microwave at High for 8 to 9 minutes or until heated through (150°).
