  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • small amount of salt to taste
  • white pepper to taste
  • 1 can consomme with gel
  • 1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • coarsely ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 small jar mushroom stems and pieces (do not drain)
