- 2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening, margarine or butter
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt.

2Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in center; add milk all at once.

3Stir just until dough clings together.

4On a lightly floured surface, knead gently 10 to 12 strokes.

5Roll or pat to 1/2-inch thickness.

6Cut with a 2 1/2-inch cutter, dipping cutter into flour between cuts.

7Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden.

8Serve warm.

9Makes 10 (2 1/2-inch) biscuits.
