- 2 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 3/4 c. milk or more if necessary
- 1/3 c. flour (for board)
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients into bowl.

2Cut in shortening with spoon until well mixed.

3Add milk gradually, mixing to form a soft ball. Sift 1/3 cup flour on board or waxed paper.

4With rolling pin, roll out dough into a thin sheet.

5Dot half of sheet with butter and fold other half over.

6Fold again.

7Handle quickly and roll out to desired thickness (1/2 to 1-inch).

8Cut with floured cutter and put on ungreased baking sheet or pan.

9Bake in hot oven at 400° to 425° until brown.
