- 1 (2 lb.) can pitted black cherries
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 8 slices plain pound cake
Directions

1Drain cherries and set aside juice.

2In a saucepan, melt butter and add juice from the cherries; mix well.

3Add cornstarch and sugar.

4Stir until smooth.

5Heat, stirring constantly, until clear and thickened; remove from heat.

6Add cherries and almond extract. Put cake on individual plates.

7Pour sparkling cherry sauce over slices.
