  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 4 c. Baker's unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Melt chocolate in boiling water and add butter.

    After butter has melted, add sugar.

    Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to mixture.

    Add buttermilk, then beaten eggs.

    Bake at 400° for 20 minutes in 2 (9-inch) layer pans.
