Black Walnut Chocolate Pound Cake

- 1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1/2 c. vegetable shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 5 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 tsp. black walnut flavoring
- 1/2 c. chopped black walnuts
- 2 sticks margarine
- 5 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Melt chocolate; set aside.

2Cream together the margarine, shortening and sugar.

3Beat in eggs, one at a time.

4Sift flour with baking powder, salt and cocoa.

5(Coat chopped walnuts with a bit of this.)

6Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk.

7Add flavoring, chocolate and nuts.

8Put into a greased and floured tube pan.

9Bake at 300° for 1 hour and about 45 minutes.

10Turn out on rack to cool.

11This freezes well.
