- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. light Karo corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. coarsely chopped black walnuts
Directions

1Mix the first 4 ingredients in saucepan.

2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil.

3Reduce heat; cook without stirring until syrup forms a ball in cold water (holds shape but is still plastic).

4Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.

5Beating constantly on high speed of electric mixer, slowly pour hot syrup over egg whites.

6Continue beating until small amount holds soft peak when dropped from spoon.

7Mix in vanilla and nuts.

8Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper.
