  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. cloves (optional)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

    Drain blackberries; save juice.

    Sift all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
