Blackberry Jam Cake

- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda (heaping)
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. cloves
- 2 tsp. allspice
- 1 c. blackberry jam
- 1 c. cold strong black coffee
Directions

1Cream together sugar and shortening until fluffy.

2Add eggs which have been slightly beaten with a fork.

3Sift together the flour, soda and spices.

4Add flour mixture a little at a time, alternating with coffee.

5Beat well, then add blackberry jam; mix well.

6Bake in 10-inch tube pan in moderate oven at 350° for about an hour or until cake tester comes out clean or bake 30 to 35 minutes if baked in layers.

7Can be iced with caramel icing.
