- 6 whole eggs
- 1 c. butter
- 2 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 c. blackberry jam
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. allspice
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 4 c. flour (plain)
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Sift dry ingredients together.

3Beat eggs well together.

4Add dry ingredients to butter and sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk and beaten eggs.

5Add blackberry jam, nuts and vanilla.

6Grease and lightly flour four 9-inch cake pans.

7Pour in cake batter and bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until cake springs back from light pressure of finger.
