  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 cup flour, all-purpose
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 x blackberries or cherries

    Cream 1/2 cup sugar and butter; blend in flour, baking powder and salt.

    Stir in milk; pour into greased 8 x 8 inch baking dish.

    Cover with blackberries.

    Bake at 325 to 350F (180C) for about 45 minutes.

    Sprinkle top with remaining sugar; bake for 5 to 10 minutes longer.
