  • 2 c. sugar, divided
  • 1/3 c. butter, softened
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 c. blackberries
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • ice cream or whipped cream

Directions

    Cream 1 cup sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

    Add flour, baking powder, salt and milk.

    Mix well and spoon batter into a greased 3-quart casserole.

    Sprinkle blackberries and 1 cup sugar over batter; add boiling water. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until done.

    Serve warm; top with ice cream or whipped cream. Serves 6.
