Ingredients

  • 1 qt. pork or beef blood (warm)
  • 2 c. rye meal
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 lb. diced lard
  • 3/4 lb. diced pork
  • 10 tart apples, diced
  • white flour to make a medium thin batter

Directions

    Mix all ingredients and put into cloth casings, about 10 inches long, by 4 inches round.

    Leave room for expansion.

    Cook in boiling water for about 2 hours until done.

    Remove from bags, slice and fry in butter.

    Good with syrup and hot bread.
