Borscht(Russian Soup)

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. spareribs
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 whole onion
  • 1 small head cabbage
  • 4 cans beets (shoestring; juice and all)
  • 2 cans lima beans (optional)
  • 1/3 c. lemon juice or vinegar
  • salt, pepper and pinch of dill

Directions

    Cover spareribs with water, salt, pepper and 1 whole onion. Boil and simmer 1 hour and a half.

    Remove onion.

    Chop one small head of cabbage.

    Add remaining ingredients and simmer 20 minutes more.

    Add additional vinegar, salt and pepper if needed.

    Finally add as much sour cream as you wish.
