- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. rye flour
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. seedless raisins
- 2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 2 tsp. water
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Combine all ingredients and stir until well blended.

2Grease the sides and bottoms of three 1-pound coffee cans.

3fill each with 1/3 batter.

4Cover tops lightly with foil.

5Place cans on a rack inside a kettle.

6Add enough water to come halfway up sides of can.

7Cover kettle.

8Bring to a boil.

9Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until bread is firm.

10More water may be added to kettle if necessary.
