  • 1 box raisins
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. broken nuts

    Prepare round cans by cutting wax paper to fit in the bottom. Four 1 pound coffee cans work well.

    Sift flour, salt and cinnamon.

    Cover raisins with water and bring to a boil.

    Skim out of water and put in large bowl.

    Add butter and soda.

    Cover with boiling water.

    Cool.

    Add sugar, eggs and vanilla.

    Add flour mixture.

    Flour nuts and add.

    Bake in cans at 350° for 1 hour.
