Braided Carrot Bread

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 c. wheat germ
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. summer savory
  • 1 pkg. RapidRise yeast
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. oleo
  • 1 c. shredded carrots

Directions

    Over low heat, heat milk, water and oleo until hot (125°). Stir into flour mixture (flour, carrots, wheat germ, sugar, salt, savory and yeast).

    Mix to form soft dough; let rise 10 minutes. Divide into 3 pieces.

    Roll into 15-inch ropes.

    Braid together. Place on baking sheet and let rise 30 minutes.

    Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.

    Makes 1 loaf.
