Braised Red Cabbage

Ingredients
- 1 red cabbage (about 1 lb.)
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped onion
- 1 apple, peeled, cored and cut in thin slices
- 1/2 c. fresh or canned chicken broth
- 1 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. honey or brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp. cloves or to taste
Directions

1Discard any tough or wilted leaves from the cabbage and core. Julienne the cabbage.

2Heat oil in a heavy frypan.

3Add the onion and cabbage and cook until wilted.

4Add the apple, broth, vinegar, honey or sugar, cloves, salt and pepper.

5Blend well.

6Cover and cook for 15 minutes, stirring often.

7Add the butter.

8Stir and blend well.

9Serves 4.
