- 1 head red cabbage cored and sliced with the
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 onion peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 apple peeled, cored and diced
- 1/2 cup red currant jelly
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions

1Combine cabbage, sugar, salt and vinegar in a large bowl and marinate 15 minutes.

2Melt butter in 5-quart pot over medium heat. Add onion and saute 5 minutes or until transparent. Add apple and saute 5 minutes more. Add cabbage mixture to pot and bring to a boil, reduce heat.

3Combine jelly, hot water, cloves and cinnamon. Add to cabbage mixture. Cover and simmer 1 hour or until tender. Serve immediately.
