- 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1/2 c. wheat flour
- 1/2 c. white flour
- 1 c. unprocessed bran (health food store)
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Heat oven to 400°.

2Generously grease 12 medium muffin cups or line with paper baking cups.

3Beat together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

4Add milk, egg, molasses and combined dry ingredients are moistened.

5Fill prepared muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake about 15 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

6Makes 1 dozen.
