- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. water
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 6 to 6 1/4 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Soften active dry yeast in warm water.

2Combine hot milk, sugar, salt and shortening.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Stir in 2 cups of the flour, beat well.

5Add the softened yeast mix.

6Add enough of the remaining flour to make moderately stiff dough.

7Turn on lightly floured surface.

8Knead until smooth and satiny.

9Shape in ball.
-
10Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.

11Cover, let double.

12Punch down, let rise again until double.

13Cut in 2 parts.

14Let rest a few minutes.

15Shape into 2 loaves.

16Place in greased loaf pans.

17Let rise until double.
-
18Bake in 350° oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
