- 2 c. crumbled bread
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 3 c. scalded milk, just brought to boil
Directions

1Combine the crumbs and milk; bring to boiling point.

2Add the butter and stir into the egg and sugar, beaten light, in the pudding dish.

3Add vanilla; surround the dish with hot water in a cake tin.

4Bake at 350° until a knife when inserted will come out clean, about 45 minutes.

5If desired, add a cup of grated apple to the mixture.
