- 1 loaf white bread, dried
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. milk or cream
- 2 Tbsp. brown or white sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 to 2 c. raisins (optional)
Directions

1Simmer raisins in water until plump.

2Combine diced bread, eggs, cream, sugar and spices and mix well by hand.

3Add raisins and mix gently.

4Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes until golden brown.

5Place pan in larger pan of water to prevent burning while baking if necessary.
