- 4 slices bread
- 3 1/2 c. milk
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
- raisins (about a c., more if your family likes them a lot)
- 1/2 stick butter or oleo
- 8 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Break bread into ovenproof dish that has at least 1 1/2-quart capacity.

2Soften bread with small amount of milk.

3Beat 4 tablespoons of sugar and egg yolks.

4Add remaining milk; stir well.

5Add vanilla and salt.

6Pour milk mixture over bread.

7Fold in raisins.

8Dot with butter.

9Place dish in pan of water.

10Bake at 300° for 40 to 50 minutes, or until silver knife inserted comes out clean.

11Remove from oven.
