  • 4 c. hot milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. fine bread crumbs (about 6 slices dried bread)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/4 c. raisins (optional)

Directions

    Soak bread crumbs in milk; stir well. Beat eggs with sugar and salt. Add to bread/milk mixture with vanilla and butter.

    Pour into an 8 x 12-inch buttered casserole.

    Sprinkle raisins on top. They will sink.

    Bake in a 325° oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
