  • 2 c. dry bread, diced
  • 4 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 4 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
  • cinnamon and sugar, tossed

Directions

    Butter casserole dish.

    Cover bread with milk for five minutes. Add sugar, eggs, butter, salt and vanilla.

    Add raisins.

    Mix well and pour into buttered dish.

    Set dish in pan of warm water and bake 1 hour at 325°.

    Sprinkle top with cinnamon and sugar before baking.
